Introducing Beeper｜认识Beeper

Like other all-in-one messenger Apps, Beeper allows you to gather the messages you receive across multiple platforms into one application. Unlike the other Apps, however, Beeper works on literally all operating systems, even including Linux and ChromeOS, which means you have access to your instant messages with whatever digital device you’re using – and they are all in sync. The reason why Beeper is the solution for handling your messages in China is that it uses its own network to relay your messages, rather than demanding you to be directly connected to the respective chat services’ (eg. WhatsApp) network. And as of now Beeper’s network has not been blocked by the GFW. I know there’s still uncertainty to this, but folks let’s face it: this is as good as it gets. Currently, Beeper fully supports the following Chat Networks: WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Google Chat, LinkedIn, Facebook, Signal, Telegram and Google Messages. The chat functions of Slack and Discord and partially supported. (Refer to Drawbacks below)

Getting Started｜使用方法
Step 1: Download and install｜下载安装

Visit www.beeper.com/download to download the App for your OS. Note: The Beeper App is not available in China Mainland’s App Store. Try with an Apple ID of a different region. For certain Android phones that do not support Google Play, please click here to download the Beeper installer package.

Step 2: Sign up｜注册账号

Signing up for Beeper is incredibly easy where only a working email address is required for receiving verification codes. Note: Do make a copy of and save your Beeper Recovery Code when you see it in the sign-up process.

Step 3: Add Chat Networks｜添加聊天网络

You may add the aforementioned Chat Networks into Beeper after signing up. Typically, this step requires you to be directly connected to the chat services, as you will be asked to complete certain verification processes in each respective messenger App. For users in Mainland China, a working VPN is required for this step. However, after adding the chat services into your Beeper, VPN will no longer be necessary for you to receive and send messages. I recommend adding all the chat networks you use in one go.

Step 4: Start Chatting!｜开始聊天吧！

Usually, Beeper syncs with your Chat Networks and imports your latest messages for you to start chatting right away. To start a conversation with a contact that is not shown in your immediate Inbox list, simply type their name, phone number oe email address into the search bar. Sometimes putting an “@“ sign at the beginning works magic.

1. Z-library Telegram Bot

In Telegram, you can create your own Z-library Bot utilising “BotFather”. This Z-lib Bot will search for the Ebook you are looking for and send you a epub or pdf copy of said book. And yes, you can carry out conversations with your Z-lib Bot in Beeper and download Ebooks there. Here is the link to the official guide on how to do that. Alternatively, you can use @sosdbot in Telegram as an already set-up ebook bot. Although it is proven to be unavailable at times.

2. Gmail Telegram Bot

A Gmail Bot allows you to read your Gmail and/or check for verification codes. At the very least, it can serve as a notification service whenever you receive a new Gmail, which is something you will need in Mainland China. Start a conversation with @gmailbot on Telegram will get you all set up. Afterwards you can rely on Beeper to do it job.

3. Midjourney Discord Bot

As AIGC services like Midjourney exist on Discord, you can set up your MJ Bot on Discord and start interacting with it one-on-one in Beeper.

Drawbacks｜一些不足
1. Insufficient Discord support｜Discord支持不足

At the moment, Beeper only syncs the conversations you have with individual users and the ones happening in your own private chat groups. The various public servers you are in will not be shown in Beeper.

目前Beeper只支持Discord中的私人直接聊天（DM）和私人小群组聊天。 Beeper尚不支持公共服务器的内容。
2. Minor Connectivity Issue｜小型网络连接问题

For the 3 months I’ve been using Beeper, no major connectivity issue has occurred. In the rare occasions where Beeper warns of unstable connection to WhatsApp, connecting your phone to VPN for a few seconds should fix the problem.

3. Voice call unsupported｜不支持语音通话
